So about almost two months ago, I found The Grays blog and I was hooked. Hooked to they style, hooked to their photos, hooked to their stories and hooked to their brand. I was impressed with the workshops they were offering at such affordable prices and when I saw they were in Nashville, TN where I was heading, it was a given, we just had to meet. I would be arriving early to the internship and wondered if we could meet up that weekend but Zach and Jody would not be in town. I had missed the workshop dates but to my happy surpise, they generously offered to meet for a 1 hour coffe talk and said I could ask anything I wanted. Pinch me, I am dreaming that such prestigious photographers would take some time to share their brains with little ole me but I was so thankful. We met at the Starbuck’s Cool Springs ( the #6 Starbucks in the nation). I arrived and there they were as cute and stylish as can be as we Brazilians say, they were my face which means, I totally dig their cool style. I grabbed my coffee excited and a bit nervous and we sat down. The hour flew, Zach shared their story which goes a bit like struggling musician and corporate girl meet photography and fall in love and thus revolutionize it. Zach spoke with such passion and kept saying how they want to give their best, how that bride and groom have contracted you the photographer to capture this once in a lifetime moment and it better be stunning, you better do your homework. Jody turned and asked so how can we benefit you? and I was feeling like in a dream, a dream of such love and wisdom and I asked away. As they explained, if you want to be at the top, if you want to be what only a few photographers are, you need to take care of the business/marketing aspect because taking pictures is only about 10% of it. The hour totally flew and I jotted down books, links and smiley faces and felt so blessed. Thank you Zach and Jody, you guys were just what I needed before returning to the real world. Please check out their work and blog to be inspired as well. A new section of Feuza Talks is coming soon where I will be having a coffee talk with some awesome photographers so stay tuned!
