Nashville Adventures- Franklin, the American Town

July 4, 2009

So many wonderful things happened while I was in Nashville and one of my favorite days was the day we went to historic town of Franklin.  As we arrived,  I saw a square where school children were visiting the local statue and gazed over and saw the cutest store windows ever. There was such stillness and peace that  involved me and lifted my spirits. Such a quaint town, very different than what I am used to and it was bliss.  It was also very American, what some might call the American Town or the American Dream and I felt blessed being there. On this 4th I think about the part of me that is American. I came to the US when I was 6 years old and for many years I struggled with my identity. I did not feel like I fit in and was obsessed with going back to Brazil but the funny thing was that every time I visited Brazil, I was an oddball, when I was there I felt so American and a bit displaced. Today I know who I am, where I want to go and the path I want to take and one thing is for sure I am Brazilian-American. This is a great county, a blessed county where dreams do come true.

Now as for our visit to Franklin, our first stop was at Merrides Bread Basket where we were told celebs hang out and we did see Brock Gill the Christian Illusionist. Bread Baskets hung from the ceiling, ordered some iced coffee and it was getting into work, perfecting the blog headers as well as working on my new website which has not been launched yet. Coming Soon, Than we headed over to Franklin Mercantile for lunch, this rustic style restaurant place where I had a veggie wrap with turkey- very funny! and we drank from a jar, I loved drinking soda or pop as they say in the south from what looked like it was previously a jar of jam! Don’t worry it did not taste like grape or strawberry or anything. We ate lunch and worked some more, did some more picking of myBiopics. As we left, we could not have gotten the famous Ivey’s cupcakes, we all ordered the red velvet one and they were placed in this cute pink box. My favs. It had rained a bit, making the town smell fresh and even more peaceful. Than Sarah told us we would be going to her favorite place ever in Nashville, and we were psyched.! That place was Natchez Creek, this funky bridge view point where we would eat the most yummishest cupcake EVER! and have class. I did see some unique bugs, very exotic actually. It was such a great day! I will never forget it. Here are a few pixs for you to see 4 your self.Enjoy! ( oh and the cupcake picture was taken by Mallory). Thank you Sarah for taking us there and having such an awesome class.

beth: I love having a preview of what's to come in August!! :) Cute engagement shoot (a few posts back) as well!!

ajira: Heard about you from Sarah Barlow's blog entry about her interns. Was instantly curious about you both from her description of you as well her mention that you were a fellow photographer mom AND Brasilian born. I lived there for a while growing up and my brother was born there. I love it. Anyway, I'm enjoying your blog and look forward to seeing your website!

Marcia: I loved to read about your hoiliday adventure. Nice pics as always! You know what? Your statement about being a Brazilian-American makes me think about my son. It is a really good topic. I have to go over it deeply.

Jen from Windy Ridge: Make me want to go there! And the cupcake is making me drool!

Lydia: How awesome that you got to meet Sarah! Lucky girl!
